The house was built in 1825 with a traditional technique of pise walls and thatched roof. During its lifetime it was changed, extended, ruined so many times.
With this recent renovation the whole house was completely renewed.
During the process there were many great structural challenge and some days when we thought that the roof will demolish itself.
We kept the traditional look of the house outside but inside we designed a modern interior, renewed all the walls, surfaces, doors and windows, furniture.
When the owner bought it, the house was divided into 3 parts. These parts were unified during the first renovation 15 years ago.
During the current refurbishment we were rethinking the functions of the rooms and made the home owner’s dream real, created a small utility room/wardrobe using the space of the former, unuseable guestroom.
The black bench and a dining cabinet remained only from the original furnishing of the house.
The living room is facing the street, the kitchen and the bedroom is situated in the back part of the house to give intimacy. These two rooms before the first renovation were a kind of a barn for chicken and pigs.
During the refurbishment, we made strengthened the walls and the roof, using the traditional building technique.
It’s not easy to work with the traditional building material, fortunately we found local professionals who still work with this old technique.
Inside the house they made all the doors higher and to finish the plastering work outside, used also reed.
Thanks to the building material, the house is having a perfect temperature and humidity in every season.
